Professor Ertugan Kozhagulovich Umbetkulov of Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumbarbek Daukeev) celebrates his 70th birthday on April 30th.

Ertugan Kozhagulovich is a graduate of the Department of Power Supply for Industrial Enterprises and Cities at the Almaty Power Engineering Institute, class of 1979. Since his student years, he has been recognized as an active and caring individual: an excellent student, a group leader, chairman of the student council, and a member of the institute's Komsomol committee.

Throughout his 50-year career, Professor Umbetkulov has progressed from working at the Kyzylorda TPP-6 to pursuing postgraduate studies at the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Electrification of Agriculture (Moscow, Russia), to leading the departments of «Energy Supply and Automation» at KazNAU (2005-2011) and «Power Systems» at Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumbarbek Daukeev (2015-2022).

Professor Umbetkulov is actively engaged in scientific research: in 2009-2011 and 2012-2014, he led research projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Today, he serves as the scientific director of a grant-funded project by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2023-2025). He has over 120 published scientific and methodological works to his credit, including four patents, an e-textbook, teaching aids endorsed by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and a number of scientific articles with impact factors.

Ertugan Kozhagulovich is one of the most beloved professors at our university. His classes are always of the highest quality and generate great interest. He is deeply involved in the educational process and actively contributes to the development of new educational programs.

Professor Umbetkulov has received national titles such as «Best University Teacher» and «Honored Power Engineer of the Kazakhstani Electric Power Association» and has received acknowledgments from relevant ministries.

We congratulate Professor Ertugan Kozhagulovich on his jubilee and wish him good health, many years of life, prosperity, and success in his important mission of educating professionals for Kazakhstan's leading economic sectors.
