On September 26, during a working visit to Kaskelen, the Governor of Almaty region Marat Sultangaziev was introduced to the plans for the construction of the new campus of Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev). The university’s rector, Gani Nygymentov, informed the guest about Energo University’s transformation strategy, which includes the development of a new campus.

The campus in Kaskelen is a project of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications under the name «Future University». It is planned that several existing university faculties will be relocated from Almaty to the new campus, and new faculties, including the School of Creative Industries, will be opened.

As noted by Gani Nygymentov, Kaskelen could become a very convenient student town within three years, relieving pressure on the Almaty metropolis. On an area of more than 15 hectares, two academic buildings with a total area of 60,000 square meters and dormitories for 6,000 students will be built. The new campus will serve as a starting point for the transformation of Energo University into a "University of the Future," combining engineering and technical education with creative disciplines.

The development of new creative directions and specialties in the new campus is planned to be done in partnership with the world leader, the New York Film Academy. A cooperation agreement between Energo University and the New York Film Academy was signed in August this year.

Another agreement was signed during the same period with another strategic partner, Suleyman Demirel University (SDU), which is already successfully operating in Kaskelen. The new Energo University campus will be located close to this institution, allowing the two universities to create synergy through student and faculty exchanges, joint scientific research, and shared infrastructure.

To implement the project, the founders of Energo University have acquired the necessary land plots, and project work is underway. The construction is expected to take 2-3 years, with a total investment of approximately 100 million USD.
