"Automation and Control" - the new training from Schneider Electric

Schneider Electric provided another technical training as part of the collaboration to improve the skills of the faculty. It was held for the faculty of the Department “Automation and Control” of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev.

The training was held from March 1 to March 5 at the “Schneider Electric Competence Center for Industrial Automation”. The center was opened on February 17 at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev. The laboratory, which has 12 stands equipped with modern industrial automation equipment and software from Schneider Electric, has become the Technical Base of the center. Company “Schneider Electric” is a world leader in providing digital solutions for energy management and automation.

The Competence Center started its work even before its opening ceremony. The capabilities of the equipment and software provided by AUPET were fully demonstrated during the training. The topic was "Programming Modicon M241 and Modicon M340 controllers for automation and control systems." As a result of such advanced training, 11 teachers of the Department “Automation and Control” received certificates from “Schneider Electric”.

The next training took place from 1 to 5 March. The topics were "Programming and Operating Controllers in an EcoStruxure Machine Expert Environment" and "Altivar Process Drives". Classes were conducted by the technical expert of Schneider Electric Marat Kusmanov. The training was attended by 12 faculty of the Department “Automation and Control”: Professor Aksholpan Kopesbaeva, senior teachers Vladimir Pogrebnyak, Shynar Adilova, Zhanna Tleubaeva, Larisa Rudakova, Gulmira Iskakova, Bukhar Kusainov, Elena Kim, Nurgazy Kalyshev, Zhanar Luksemayanova, teacher Kusemayeva Askar Seitov. The list of participants was formed based on the subjects in which it is planned to use Schneider Electric equipment and software for training in the state, Russian and English languages.

           The training program was very rich. The EcoStruxure Machine Expert Programming and Operating Controllers course included the following sections:

- hardware overview;

- project creation;

- programming languages (CFC, ST, FBD, SFC);

  - visualization in EcoStruxure Machine Expert;

- the basics of working in VijeoDesigner;

- organization of data transmission over the Modbus network

The training "Frequency converters Altivar Process" consisted of the following parts:

- design and documentation features (design and installation options, overview of electrical and communication characteristics, remote graphic terminal, built-in Ethernet and the use of QR codes, menus and programming guide, typical algorithm and setup features, SoMove software;

- applied functions, application features (operation at preset speeds, stopping by an external fault signal, PID controller, monitoring and control functions, WEB-server, frequency converter control options (inputs / outputs, Modbus).

Based on the results of the trainings, additions will be made to the content of lectures and laboratory work on the following subjects of undergraduates - "Elements and devices of automation", "Microprocessor complexes in control systems", "Basics of building SCADA systems," Automation of control objects ", as well as in disciplines f aster’s programs - "Integration of digital technology into automation and control systems" and "Software for microprocessor controllers in automation tasks".
