Shokan Chingizovich Ualikhanov was the first Kazakh scientist, a brave traveler. He was the first researcher of Kazakh history, ethnography and literature. Shokan was a writer who for the first time expressed his scientific opinion about the theory of literature and folklore of Kazakhs and Kyrgyz. He was the first popularizer of Kazakh literature and culture of the Russian public. Russian scholars made a great contribution to the collection of Shokan's works. “When Shokan Ualikhanov appeared in the world of oriental studies, Russian scientists-researchers of the East recognized him as a unique phenomenon and expected great discoveries from him about the fate of the Turkic people. But the untimely death of Shokan deprived us of this hope! ”- this is how the Russian scientist, academician Nikolai Ivanovich Veselovsky wrote about him in the preface to Shokan's works published by the Russian Geographical Society.
As noted in the article of the Head of State N. A. Nazarbayev "Bolashakka bagdar: ruhani zhangyru", in order to popularize the national language and literature, the national spirit on 30.04.2021 at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev, in the 1st year advisory groups, the event "Zhasyn-takdyr zhagyly" was held according to the plan. It was dedicated to the 185th anniversary of Shokan Ualikhanov. The event was held online, on the Google Meet platform.
The host of the event was a student of the EEk-19-21 group Sarybaeva Gulzhan. The event began with the performance of Kurmangazy's kyu "Balbyrauyn" by a student of the ISk-19-1 group Osan Anel. IK Izembaeva, a lecturer at the Department for Language Studies, opened the event with an introductory speech. The student of the group Ik-20-3 Abdrakhmanova Aruzhan made a presentation on the topic “Childhood and youth of Shokan”. The speaker introduced the audience to the historical roots, the homeland of the scientist, who actively contributed to the formation of Shokan's scientific views. A student of the Ik-20-3 group, Zkriyaev Azamat, spoke in his report about Sh. Ualikhanov's trip to Issyk-Kul in 1856. The student from the EEk-19-14 group, Dzhalelova Perizat, provided Shokan's reports on the trip to Kashgaria. At the end of the event, students shared their views on the development of Kazakh science, linking the life and work of Shokan.
At the end of the event, Associate Professor of the Department for Language Studies Sharibzhanova GG made a closing speech. She stressed the importance of education and science for the entry of our state into the number of developed countries. She urged to take an example from such unique personalities as the great Kazakh scientist, orientalist, historian, folklorist, ethnographer, geographer, educator Shokan Ualikhanov.
