For two days, on June 19-20, Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev) became the venue for the unusual Aspan Fest festival. 30 high-class pilots competed in the FPV drone race for the right to represent Kazakhstan at international competitions.
The festival program included three directions:
- Open Class MultiGP Global Qualifier,
- Simulator,
- Microdron class.
Drone operators had to perform complex maneuvers on their aircraft, overcoming various obstacles and demonstrating not only speed, but also accuracy of actions. Everyone could watch the unusual spectacle. An exhibition of drones was also organized for the guests.
The main prize fund of the event was 7 thousand dollars. According to the results of two days of competitions, the pilot from Poland Andrey Tishin was recognized as the best pilot of the festival and the winner of the cup.
Timofey Muravyov from Karaganda became the fastest pilot and winner of the MultiGP GQ Cup. He is nominated for the international MultiGP Championship, which will be held in Florida, USA.
The festival became a logical continuation of the cooperation between the Ashyk Aspan Foundation, which is engaged in the development of the use of unmanned aerial systems in Kazakhstan, and Energo University, which is actively introducing areas related to robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles into its educational programs.
Since March of this year, Energo University has been a training ground for the drone race team, mentored by the titled pilots of the Kazakh Aspan team (among the TOP 10 teams in the world according to the results of the "Games of the Future-2024", which were held in Kazan, Russia).
- Energo University was not randomly chosen as the venue for the festival. We are very interested in developing in this direction," said the rector of the University, Gani Nygymetov. – The University aims to support and develop initiatives aimed at popularizing robotics and drones, thereby developing its leadership position in the educational field of training highly qualified specialists for the developing industry of unmanned aerial vehicles.
