A consultative seminar on the topic "SCENARIOS FOR DECARBONIZATION OF THE EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRY OF THE RK" was held on April 19, 2023 at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev (AUPET). It was organized by the Scientific and Educational Center "Green Academy" with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and AUPET.

The purpose of the event was to discuss the directions of decarbonization of the industry for the preparation of the Implementation Plan for the Strategy for achieving carbon neutrality of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2060.

Representatives of government agencies, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Scientific Research Institutes, universities, business, international and national experts and non-governmental organizations took part in the seminar.

Head of the Delegation of the European Union for Cooperation in Kazakhstan Dr. Johannes Baur, Director of the Institute of Hydrogeology and Geoecology of the Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K. I. Satpayev Dr. Malis Absametov, Director of the Advanced Training Institute of AUPET named after Gumarbek Daukeyev Dr. R. Satova, General Director of GFC / AIFC Dr. A. Kazybaev, OECD/IDDRI/EFI Project Coordinator Dr. G. Safonov, Director of the Research Institute "Energy Saving and Energy Efficient Technologies" Non – profit JSC "Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov" Dr. A. Alimgazin, Director of the Institute of Thermal Power Engineering and Control Systems Dr. A. Begimbetova made presentations.

Low-carbon development and achieving carbon neutrality in Kazakhstan by 2060 will require a profound transformation of the energy system. Therefore, the scientific developments of AUPET scientists in the field of reducing the negative impact of energy facilities on the environment were noted during the seminar.
